A campaign starts in Caelwick

A new campaign now begins in the town. It gives the party a place to form before the climb: walk to the roster board, recruit a hero, choose their starting setup, and decide who will set out.

The portal connects that preparation to the expedition. Once you have recruits, choose one to four heroes and a tower. The campaign records the expedition, and the party arrives ready to begin from a paused state.

A place before a finished town

The current town is an early explorable blockout. It establishes walking, boundaries, objects to use, recruitment, and departure. Those ordinary actions are the beginning of the relationship between town and adventure.

They also make an important distinction visible: the campaign is larger than the group you take on one expedition. The roster can give successive parties a shared history, even as their members and builds change.

The expedition begins with a company you chose.

The return journey is still ahead

Entering the tower is one half of the intended rhythm. The other is coming back with progress, consequences, and new reasons to prepare. Leaving an expedition and resolving its lasting consequences are still being developed.

That means the town’s current presence is a foundation, not a claim that every campaign system or service is finished. A party base, crafting, richer town life, and the procedural outskirts belong to the wider direction.

What to follow next

The useful question is how a single climb becomes part of a longer story. What does the party bring home? How does survival or loss affect the next expedition? What makes preparation in town worth paying attention to?

Those questions connect the town to combat and character progression. We will keep the alpha overview clear about current foundations and future work as that journey develops.
